OUTREACH PROGRAM
As part of AdvenTours PUERTO RICO
corporate social responsibility in 2002
we founded
APIE, the Puerto Rican
Association of Interpretation and
Education, Inc
.

APIE is a non-profit organization that
offers training and continuing education
for tour guides, plus a series of activities
for the general public, focusing on
children, students, and educators
(
Proyecto Mucarito).

In 2014 we created an
Annual Fund to
promote scientific research on birds, $1
of every tour we offer is added to this
fund.

What is
Eco-philosophy?

´"Eco-philosophy is "ecological"
in the broadest sense:  it sees
humanity as one with nature, as
an integral part of the process of
evolution which carries the
universe onward from matter to
life, to consciousness, and
ultimately to divine."  [

Soft adventures involve a modest degree of physical effort in a natural environment.  We combine non-formal education with interactive,
participative experiences.  Activities demanding extra effort and excellent health conditions are listed under
OUTDOOR ADVENTURES.
Twenty-six years ago, we started our business
in the western region, perhaps the best kept
secret as most of the visitors stay in San Juan.
We still offer some of our firsts and most iconic
tours as part of our Nature Program:
The Land
of the Pirates (Cabo Rojo) and Curet Falls
(Maricao).

Update on El Yunque National Forest - As of
today,
Road 191 is open up to Yocahú Tower.
Road 988 is open, as well Angelito Trail, which
is partially open, but it will soon be closed while
they build a new bridge.  Road 186 is open  and
hike to Pico El Toro.  If you going on your own,
keep updated with the weather as flash floods
could occur without warnings.  Twenty-one
years ago, we obtained special permits to offer
tours at
El Yunque National Forest.  Even
with limited access, we still have permits to do
day and night tours, including going during the
night for
glow-in-the-dark mushrooms.
"To act in the World as if it
were a sanctuary is to make
it reverential and sacred.
What the universe becomes
depends on you.  Treat it
like a machine and it
becomes a machine.  Treat
it like a divine place and it
becomes a divine place.  A
deep comprehension of
ecology is reverence in
action, is a deep
identification with the
beauty of life pulsating
through the universe until
we become part of it.  Thus
understanding becomes
empathy.  Empathy
becomes universal
reverence.  This reverence is
a form of spirituality."
