| This short version of La ruta del café is available Friday through Sunday. We will drive to the mountains of the small town of Ciales where we will visit the Coffee Museum. You will have the opportunity to learn about the history of coffee and taste a cup of Café Don Pello. This is an excellent opportunity to buy local coffee to take back home as a gift or for you to taste while remembering your vacation in Puerto Rico. |

During our drive to Las Marías
(two and a half hours), your
guide will share different
aspects of the social and
economical development of
Puerto Rico (1800 thru 1900),
and Las Marías was one of the
most prosperous towns. At
Hacienda Palma Escrita, a real
coffee plantation, you will learn
the stages involved in the
cultivation process (cultivation,
harvest of the fruit, processing,
pulping, washing, drying,
hulling, and finally, roasting)
until it gets to your table.
