Imagine yourself at El Yunque National Forest when the crowds and the Moon are gone.  Sounds good, right?   As the Forest is recovering,
we are allowed to go back to El Yunque during the night, but the logistics have changed.  Since Angelito Trail will be closed until they rebuild
the bridge, we have two options to offer this tour depending on the weather conditions as there is a possibility to go to La Coca Falls to look
for glow-in-the-dark mushrooms.  A minimum of 15 participants is required to offer this activity.  If you are a local resident with a group of at
least 15 participants (plus you), you can go for free!  Contact us for details.

In 2001 we obtained special permits with Forest Service to
offer night hikes at El Yunque National Forest.  We were
allowed to offer the hikes on a private basis at El Portal
Trail as the gate at La Coca Falls is closed by 6:00 PM.
From time to time, private Areytos (Taíno ceremonies) took
place at the parking lot the visitors center.  The hikes were
offered with a minimum of 2 participants.

It will take some time until Forest Service will be able to
reopen El Portal Rainforest Center, as the structure and
trail suffered the impacts of both hurricanes Irma and María
in September, 2017.

Five months later, outfitters were given the opportunity to go
back to the Forest under special permits and limited
access:  Road 988 (Angelito Trail and Puente Roto) and
Road 191 up to La Coca Falls.  Outfitters can use Angelito
Trail twice a month.

Under the new special permits, we can still offer the night
activities.  We have made some changes and decided to
established specific dates on
for the general public with a minimum of 15 and a
maximum of 25 participants.
