A Visit to Mayagüez, also known as La Sultana del
Oeste will not be complete without a city tour of
Mayagüez. Through this 3-hrs. city tour you will
visit some of the most iconic sites of Mayagüez.
You will learn about the Taínos living in the area
before the Spaniards arrived; the 1841 Big Fire;
slave traffic and their role beyond the abolition of
1873; sugar cane and coffee haciendas in the
19th century; plus the impact of the hurricanes and
the San Fermín earthquake (1918) in the economy
of the largest city of the west. Includes a short
walk at the historical district.
