OLD SAN JUAN THEMATIC
HERITAGE ECOWALKS
with a private Certified Interpretive Tour Guide
The National Trust’s definition of cultural heritage tourism is “traveling to
experience the places and activities that authentically represent the stories and
people of the past and present. It includes
historic, cultural and natural resources."

When you join our thematic historical walking tours, that were carefully designed by
an interpretive planner, you will not only explore the old city as an historical site, but
you will learn the importance of its natural history and historic landmarks.

Historical EcoWalk - We will walk through the Old San Juan listening to the sounds
of Nature.    Bring your camera:  Hummingbirds, Shorebirds, Red-tailed hawks,
Monk Parakeets. Pelicans, and other species share the open spaces with the
residents and visitors.  Excellent opportunity to see of one of our "champion" trees.
Catholic Heritage of the Old San Juan - Through this 2 hour walking tour you will
learn the history of Puerto Rico through another perspective:  the establishment of
the Catholic Church in Puerto RIco and the
New World.   Some churches are in the
restoration process, we will not go inside; instead, we will explain the most relevant
aspects of the site from the outside.

Spices and Flavors of the Old San Juan blends the flavor of the Puerto Rican and
Caribbean cuisine with our culture; no wonder Christopher Columbus was looking
for a better route to the Indies.

Ruta Ballajá -  This unique walk explores the north side of the old city through its
architecture, cemetery, and fortifications.

Other thematic tours available.  Please drop us an email for details.
In 1995 Levinton referred
to an
estuary as a partially
closed body of water, and
its surrounding coastal
habitats, where saltwater
from the ocean mixes with
fresh water from rivers or
streams.  This is the case
of the
San Juan Bay
Estuary.
