waiting for you.  Since we depart from the Old San Juan, El
Condado, and Isla Verde, this journey starts with the scenic

Puerto Rican history from the time of the Taínos, the role of
Ponce de León, through the introduction of African slaves.

This tour blends history and culture with gastronomy, so be
aware
that your main objective is tasting different flavors of
Puerto Rico and the Caribbean
.

A short low-impact walk at El Yunque is included.  This tour
stops only at the Visitors Center.

Caguas, the heart of Puerto Rico, is a new tour that explores the role
of Puerto Rican women
in the social and economical development of
our country.

Our first stop will be at the
Tobacco Museum located in the historic
district of the city, followed by a visit and walk at the
Caguas Botanical
and Cultural Garden
where you will learn why this town is called the
heart of Puerto Rico
.

The short version of the tour is available on a daily basis and
includes a visit to the Coffee Museum in Ciales where you will have
the opportunity to buy local coffee or taste a cup of Café Don Pello
while you learn about the coffee industry in Puerto Rico. Lunch at a
local small restaurant.
Cruise ship passenger, it takes a drive of
approximately one and a half hour from San Juan; you should depart
at 10:00 PM or later to go on this trip.

The
long version of the tour is available from September - December
and includes a visit to a real coffee plantation.   You will learn the
stages involved in the cultivation process
(cultivation, harvest of the
fruit, processing, pulping, washing, drying, hulling, and finally,
roasting)
until it gets to your table.  This tour is not available for cruise
ship passengers since it takes a drive of approximately 2 hours and a
half or more to reach the coffee plantation.  Lunch at a local restaurant.
