A Taste of the South
During our Epicurious Expedition departing from Ponce we will explore
different towns looking for the authentic taste of the south.
Our day starts with a stop at Ponce´s Plaza de Mercado (market
place). Your Guide will introduce you to the cultural background
and importance of fruits, spices, vegetables, roots, and fish, as part
of the ingredients of today´s main dish.

A drive of approximately one hour and a half will take us to the mountainous town
of Jayuya where we will visit a coffee plantation still in operation.
We will be greeted by the owners and their employees, who will be in charge of a
walk through the plantation while you learn more about the different varieties of

process (cultivation, harvest of the fruit, processing, pulping, washing, drying,
hulling, and finally, roasting) until it gets to your table. We will stop for lunch at
Parador Hacienda Gripiñas (included in price).

Off season, we can still visit the plantation although coffee will be growing for the
next year and you will not necessarily see all the stages of the cultivation process.
