Less than one hour drive from San Juan, the town of Luquillo
is waiting for you. This journey starts with the scenic Piñones
coastal road where you will learn important facts of Puerto
Rican history from the time of the Taínos and the role of
Ponce de León through the introduction of African slaves.
Relax and enjoy an unique trip to the eastern side of Puerto Rico.

Our first short stop in a kiosko of Piñones will allow us to taste one of the many flavors of Puerto Rican cuisine while admiring the
beautiful flowers around us. You might want to refresh your Soul with Maví or coconut water.
We continue this journey with a ride where you will understand the transition from the coastal mangrove forest to a tropical rain
forest, plus the importance of water as a natural resource.
Once in Luquillo, our second stop iwill be at Museo La Familia, a private collection of antiques. Then we continue to the Luquillo
Experimental Forest and El Yunque National Forest. Puerto Rico is located in one of the 34 Biodiversity Hotspots of the World,
specifically, it is part of the Caribbean Hotspot of Biodiversity. Culturally speaking, El Yunque holds a very special role in the history
of our Archipelago.
The territory of Yuké, as it was known by our indigenous people living in Borikén (Puerto Rico) when the Spaniards arrived, was
ruled by Cacique Yukiyú. He was in charge of protecting the sacred mountain of the good spirit Yocahú Bagua Maracoti. Next, a
stop at El Portal de El Yunque Visitors Center, followed by a short stop at La Coca Falls and the 98 steps Yocahú Observation
Tower. Giants tree ferns, smallest orchids of the Planet, green anolis, Sierra Palms, endemic birds, and much more is waiting for
you at our low-impact hike at Caimitillo Trail. You will understand why El Yunque National Forest was recently nominated as one of
the new Seven Wonders of the World.Giants tree ferns, smallest orchids of the Planet, green anolis, Sierra Palms, endemic birds,
and much more is waiting for you at our low-impact hike at Caimitillo Trail.
Our last stop will be at the kioskos de Luquillo where you will have the opportunity to taste one of the many Puerto Rican dishes. On
weekends we stop at La Chispa Criolla at the only other entrance to el Yunque National Forest.

Walk through local culture by discovering historical
homes left by Spain's heritage on our table traditions.
